Luxury handwoven home goods
Reclaiming a handweaving tradition
From 5,000 B.C.E. until the Industrial Revolution, nearly all cloth – from clothing to bedding to ship sails – was produced by weaving on household looms. Weaving traditions developed in every corner of the globe, from China to Peru, Sweden to New Zealand.
When we take cloth back to the household loom, we can reclaim the benefits of natural fibers and the quality of small-batch craftsmanship.
Designed with purpose. Crafted with care.
As a maker, I weave for the joy of creative discovery and the deep satisfaction of crafting knowledge. As a consumer, I simply want better cloth.
What makes handwoven superior to industrial textiles?
Natural fibers (silk, cotton, linen, hemp and wool) are sustainable, minimally processed, and biodegradable, not to mention petroleum-free. Better material equals better cloth, with a longevity that synthetic fibers cannot match.
My designs are function-driven, prioritizing quality and durability. A simple towel can be beautiful, but it should also last for many years of use! Handweavers can also utilize dozens of weave structures for unique designs, while industrial equipment typically only weaves two structures (plain weave and twill).
Handcrafted textiles may not be as perfect as factory-made, but they are imbued with meaning and value, as daily tools and treasured heirlooms. I approach weaving with delight and intention, creating textiles that will bring joy to your home.
